enchanted...

we are on the homestretch for packing.  i know you are all tired of hearing about this move.  it is not like we are moving overseas, although sometimes i wish we were.  we are just moving about 20 miles away.  to the country.  gonna be backwoods folk now.  NO WAY!  you guys have no idea how happy i'm with this move.  since i know you are all so bored with my moving nonsense, i thought i would show you something very special.

i have been looking for a gift to give kennedy for children's day.  we celebrate it in brazil on october 12th.  i believe many countries in south america, europe, and asia also celebrate children's day, but on different dates. i know it is a long ways away, but i'm an early planner.  anyhow, i wanted to give her something worthy and sweet.  she is totally into dress up.  imagine that!  she loves putting on my high heels and a tutu, or some other skirt.  but, honestly i think she needs some new pieces to her dress up trunk.  and no one else better to make these pieces than sweet marie at whimsy ranch.  you gotta love her vintage inspired deigns.  marie designs each piece using a variety of techniques including hand stamped appliques and recycled vintage textiles.  whimsy ranch also offers some boy and girl appliqued tees along with super cute jingle bells tutus.  come check out the shop.  and website too! don't you just love the donkey and the birdie?  have a lovely weekend!  i'm back to packing again!

twins...

anyone wanna come help me pack?  luck for you i'm not a hoarder (spelling?).  and we have little furniture to haul away.  my life is a disaster right now.  i HATE being disorganized and i HATE clutter.  it makes me soo moody.  i'm totally ocd when it comes to living an organized life, so anything out of place drives me...well...insane.  two more weeks of this mess and hopefully we will get to settle again.  i can't wait.  but, i'm trying to find some enjoyment in this chapter of our lives.  three more weeks and school is over too.  now i know why my uncles and cousins always say that organic chemistry was designed to keep stupid people out of medical school.  i think they are right.  and guess what i'm NO STUPID! yay!  so with the little time i have had on my hands i managed to find my twin sister.  can you imagine?  i always gave my mom a hard time growing up.  i went through a stage that i thought for sure i was adopted.  my poor mom had to show me exams, delivery pictures, baby albums to prove i was not adopted.  of course the obstetrician is my dad's best friend.  so that phase did not last long when he told me he delivered me with his own hands.  who was i to not believe the doctor, right?!  we get great laughs talking about my fertil imagination.  ok, back to my sister.  i found her online.  her name is zee and she has the cutest blog you will ever see called pixie blossoms.  the girl is it.  organized and ohhhhh so talented.  in many ways.  you gotta go see her blog and shop.  while you are there buy one of her handmade goodness.  yep zee is from brazil.  me thinks she is the famous girl from ipanema.  look at these pictures from her studio.  it was featured on modish.  don't you just love it?!  us brazilian girls like it colorful.  no boring pastels.  look there we have similar babushka dolls...you know how much i love these.  i know one thing we do not have in common..her indoor plants seem to live, mine die.  my husband says that if i would just water them it would solve the problem.

enjoy the beauty of zee's work.  so inspiring to say the least.  i'm ready to decorate the studio now.  and the playroom as well.  it seems like zee has been busy decorating her son's playroom too.  adorable!

star spangled kennedy...

i know, i know, this is kind of a late post, but i wanted to show you what i made for kennedy's forth of july celebration.  this was the first time to use the serger.  i was so scared about using it and the thing going nuts on me, but it worked like a charm.  i will be taking a serger class in two weeks, so hopefully i will feel more comfortable using this beast.  so back to the outfit, a simple twirly skirt and a onesie with an applique.  i just zigzaged a cut out from the fabric print i used for the skirt.  i forgot what the fabric name was, but it has a cute vintage all american theme.  i got a little carried away with the serger thingy and i ended up making a similar outfit for kennedy's bff and sweet little neighbor carly.  these girls had to celebrate in style.  i hope you all had a great holiday.  i called my mom in brazil wishing her a happy 4th of july.  she laughed at me.  can you believe that?  am i too americanized to expect that the entire world needs to celebrate 4th of july?  ohhhhhhhh, i gotta tell you the news.  my mama...yess my mama, will be in the 2012 graduating class of LAW SCHOOL.  you heard it right.  she was accepted into law school and will begin classes in august.  see, you mamas out there - it is never too late.  my mom is truly an inspiration.  ok, here are the photos:

so these pics were taken at our soon-to-be new place.  kennedy will not know what to do on 3 acres.  yep, 3 acres.  and yes the yard looks like a jungle.  but we can't do anything about it until it is ours.  you know what i love the most about the house?  not it's size or huge yard, but the amazing lighting.  the entire house has the best natural light.  windows everywhere so i know it will be wonderful for photos.  well, i love the lighting and the fact i will have a real sewing room, which is all decorated in my head.  i have a problem though, i don't know if i have a more of a vintage or modern style.  well, i guess i will just combine both.  lots of colors and yes lots of reds.  i know you can't wait to see it.  hey, can you see my fancy watermarks (i'm still learning how to use them) on these photos?  i bet you can.  these were courtesy of sweet jamie sampson.  thank you love!  while you are at it, go check out jamie's new website, here.  i tell you, this girl will go places.

meet bianca...

this is bianca.  she is the little sister to beatrice.  bianca is a girly girl.  she loves to play with dolls and wears barettes all of the time .  and like her sister, she is likes to take naps.  bianca will be moving out soon to live with a special little girl who has really long eye lashes too.  Bianca_002

Bianca_003

i think i'm getting a little better at hand embroidery, don't you think?  and before i forget again, last time i posted beatrice i failed to give credit where credit it due.  both beatrice and bianca (and all of their siblings who are still waiting to be sewn) have been inspired by emily's work.  i did use this as my starting template and then made some modifications as i went.  if you have not been to emily's blog you gotta check it out.  she is ultra creative and i think one of etsy's best sellers.  i soon want one of her art prints around our new house.  i love love love her style.  so, if you are feeling crafty, you should check out the video and make a doll too.  they are a lot of fun to make.  these girls are taking me a while to get done, so i don't see them being available in the shop anytime soon.

7 year itch...

not!  happily married.  one day i shall tell you my love story.  this is the ultra-condensed version.  it started in brazil back in 2001.  met my prince charming in march, married him in june.  i was a big city slicker he was a small town southern man.  he went to work in brazil, i was his interpreter.  he fell in love, i went head over heels.  it was love at very first sight.  and still is.  he is my life.  he is a republican, i'm a democrat.  he loves fishing, i love dog shows.  he likes to save money, i like to spend money - i think he might say i love to spend.  but i don't think so -  he is handsome, i'm beautiful (thank you, i know it!)  together we form a perfect pair.  we get angry, we make plans, we laugh, we cry, we go for walks, we watch movies, we snuggle, we make more plans, we go on diets, we fail, we travel, we learn, we make mistakes, we fall, we get up, we trust, we believe, we pray, but best of all we love our most beautiful baby girl, together.  so, my love, here's to 7 long years that have passed by in a flash.  so many memories i don't even know where to begin.  and yes dinner on thursday.  no child, just us. eu te amo!

rockin' mama...

have you stopped by kathleen's blog yet?  if not you should.  she is the creative mind behind grosgrain.  how much talent can a person have?  and.....she is soo pretty too (of course her girls are just as pretty as their mama.)  anyhow...kathleen and i date back to when she started her first blog, the tum tum tree.  i was really thrilled when she got her blog set up and i'm even more excited to see how freakin' creative she is.  anyhow, kathleen is giving away two awesome creations.  this:

and this:

Blue_building1

i don't think the pretty girl is included, but if she is i will take her too.  kennedy says she will take the dress and caplet for sure.  she is not sure about a sister at this time.  something about having to share her dolls.  have i told you how addicted to dolls she is?

when i read this fabulous blog i can help but dream of the day, college will be behind me and i will have time to create.  my serger is collectig dust (yes that brand new german engineered, powerful serging machine.)  my japanese pattern books are acquiring a distinct yellow shade, kind of like the old books at the library.  time is the only thing i envy these days.  i will show you soon what my neighbor lindsay has made.  i got her started with sewing...and ohh my....she is doing much better than i..much better.  buckle up people!  this girl will go places!

these boots are made for walkin'...

here is a sneak peak of little k's latest photoshoot.  this was the total matilda jane meets kennedy and friends.  i hope you like it denise!  that's all i gotta say.  i have been going going going...like the energizer bunny.  we will be moving soon....just across town.  more on that later.  now you know what the window shopping a few weeks back was all about.  alright....i gotta go.  but here are the photos.  taken by my wonderful friends at vaughn portrait.  i can't even begin to say how much i love these gals.  have a great weekend!

where have i been...

in class, everyday, all day.  with no end in sight.  kennedy is doing pretty good at school.  she misses mama and gets a little sad every now and then.  i'm trying to survive organic chemistry.  honestly it is easier than i though, but it has been hard trying to keep up.  on a good note, i have had a little more time to catch up on my sewing.  not making anything new, just sewing the usual.  it has been great though.

how was all of the father's day celebrations?  we had a sweet day.  with blueberry pancakes for breakfast and a lazy day to enjoy.  papa got three gifts from k and mama.  we went with a go green papa theme this year.  first was a pair of shorts from the northface (love love love their stuff).  something cool to welcome the summer. second was a cool kleen kanteen bottle (i loved it so much i got one for me and a sippy cup for k) from reusable bags.  i have always been anti-plastic, so i'm happy to know we have stainless steel bottles.  plus it helps keep it clean since i'm a germophobe.

Klk27pp

also from reusable bags, was a laptop lunch box to take to work.  you kow, much better than the pesky ziplock bag.  i first learned of this when i stumbled upon a flickr group of people who LOVE this lunchbox.  i mean these people are diehard fans!  i loved looking at how everyone sets up their meals.  too cool.  you gotta take a look at this.  now the question will be how creative i will be in preparing papa's lunch everyday!  that's a whole new story!

Bentoboxbook

again i ask you, where is the time going?  i keep thinking that my baby girl is growing too fast.  and i know i sound like a broken record.  ok, i know you are probably tired of hearing this.  but she is getting so big.  i wanted to share this photo of little k and myself (well my legs) when she was about 8 months old.  we were wearing matching ugg boots.  ya know how much i love shoes!  these are from our friends at vaughn portrait park.  how sweet is she?  then she did not have much hair.  now she wears pigtails.  ok, i promise next post i will not whinne (i have no idea how to spell this.)

6a00e552a78149883300e553667f5188348

on a shoe note.  when i win the lottery, the first thing i will do is to buy one of these.  my consumer's dream.  a christian louboutin pair of pumps.  now, imagine how hot it would be for me to wear this $700 pair of shoes to, let's say, a play date at the park.  like i said, when i win the lottery i will get one.  and since i do not gamble.  this will remain on "my ohh man if i was rich, i'd get one list."  and you know, i'm kind of thinking i should move to denmark.  they are really happy over there.  hey....wait a minute...i'm happy here too!  but, it is somewhat hard to be content in this country.  too much to buy and not enough money to go around.  okkkkkkkkkkkk i'm so done with this post!

brown eyed girls...

wwhoa....two posts in one day!  whatch out the weather might get bad!  oh well, who cares, right?  i just HAD to share these shots of kennedy (i'm listnening to this while i type............love it!)  ok, i know i'm bias.  but she IS the prettiest brown eyed girl in the universe.  and when she wears matilda jane, i want to squeeze her.  she has been wearing one mjc outfit everyday for the last several days.  i have gotten a gazillion compliments on how pretty she looks and the usual "where did you get this?"  ohh i almost forgot to mention the converse she got.  how cute is this?  ok enough talking.  here it goes.

and a bit more sunday window shopping.  one of these will have to come live with us.  it's great to have a daughter because you don't look ridiculous playing with dolls at age 26.

on another topic: don't be shy to leave a comment.  if you are not familiar with blogs, you can find a comment link at the bottom of each post.  i would love to hear from you!  i try to respond to all of my comments, key word, "try."

window shopping...

i have been inspired lately to do a little decorating around the house.  i'm loving these plates from anthropologie.  i really love their whimsical look and the artist name is nathalie.  all of my dishes are off-white so i think they'd accent them well.  what do you think?

060108home_eating_02_2

and this hook for a little one's room.  i have been thinking lately that i need some hooks hung lower on the wall for kennedy to hang her purses and backpack.  you know she is about to become a big girl and go to school.  i better not talk about it because i get all teary.

my all time favorite has to be this rug.  I LOVE IT!!!  i guess you can tell i'm all for bold colors.  i have been really into turquoise, pool blue, and red lately.  mostly the pool blue.  it is so nice, the lighter blue color contrats well with my dark stained furniture.

770910_mul_b_2

i can't stop obsessing about these trunks from paper source (my all time fave paper store.) i think two of the pool blue (one extra large and one large) stacked would be so cute.  maybe three, add a large chartreuse too.  this is where i got my colorful suitcases, in case you wanted to know.

i wish i had one of these bookcases from pottern barn teen.  i love love love the blue one.  can you see all of my fabric neatly stacked on it.  ohh my.  i can see it already.  come on the blue one is one sale!  you know a woman can't pass a good sale.

Img98l

and how about this chadelier also from pbt?  don't you love it?  oh man, i gotta stop it now.

it is so nice to browse these sites knowing well i do not own a credit card.  how nice!  no temptation!  ok enough daydreaming...back to sewing!
